Curious about where our clothing comes from and how it can be created locally with natural fibers, local labor, and plant-based dyes? Then come explore your local fibershed with Theresa Bentz, owner of Get Bent Farm and Woolen Mill, and Maddy Bartsch, owner of Salt of the North Dyes. First, Theresa will teach you how to take locally grown and milled wool and turn it into yarn with drop spindles. You’ll get to sample a selection of wool from the major branches of the sheep family tree and learn about each breed. Once you’ve got the hang of it, Maddy will take you on a hunt for natural dyes and share how to use foraged and garden-grown plants to add color to your new yarns. There will be plenty of time for questions, sharing about the work of the Three Rivers Fibershed (our local affiliate chapter of the fibershed movement), and enjoying each other’s company.
