Honey, yeast, water and time. Combining these simple ingredients makes mead, an alcoholic fermented beverage that dates back millennia – from ancient China, Egypt, and Rome to the Norse culture of Scandinavia and beyond. Do you want to tap into this legacy and learn how to make mead yourself? Join us for this two-hour introduction designed to take the mystery out of mead making with sparkling results!
Led by Mike Mackiewicz of Bone Lake Meadows Apiary, the class will discuss the history of mead, different varieties, flavors, and world/ regional differences in mead brewing. We’ll have several kinds of mead to taste, and then move into hands-on demonstration and mead preparation. Local honey will be available for purchase, or bring your own.
Class will be on Sunday, October 13 from 1p-3p at Amador Hill Farm and Orchard in North Branch. See all class details and register at https://w-e-i.org/event/lets-make-mead.
