Fermentation is one of the oldest and safest food preservation techniques. With some simple materials and knowledge, we can harness this natural transformative process to create something delicious, funky, and nourishing. Through the magic of brine and time, we can preserve what is important to us. Come learn the magic of microbes and begin preserving your own pickles, krauts, and other lacto-fermented goods!
The workshop will be hands-on, with opportunities to harvest and use vegetables from the WEI Farm and prepare your own lacto-fermented food to take home. Participants will learn beginning fermenting techniques, how to create an ideal microbial environment, and what food safety norms to follow.
All are welcome – WEI classes are open to everyone.
